Where I Live

I live in the mountains of British Columbia’s West Kootenay region, which is situated within the ancestral homelands and unceded territory of several Indigenous nations, including the Sinixt, Ktunaxa, Syilx and SecweÌ“pemc. I walk this ground, drink this water and breathe this air with gratitude.

These mountains and valleys have been my habitat for almost seven decades now. Still, the sense of joy and enchantment I find in this land remains undiminished. Wherever I turn my eye, be it the majestic peaks of the Valhallas and Purcells, the crystalline rivers and lakes or the profusion of flora and fauna, I am struck with wonder. From ridgetop to rivulet, larch to larkspur, ground squirrel to grizzly bear, this place is rich with magical, at times almost overwhelming, beauty—beauty that I can’t help trying to capture and bring home with me on my wanderings.

I invite you to join me.
